“Yes sir, I will surely send the vegetables in your daughter’s wedding and you know that Ramu ‘s vegetables are always fresh and healthy……
After sometime Ramu ‘s phone call finally ended and a beggar came to him and asked……...
“Mr. Ramu, please give me some money by the name of god.”
Ramu said……
“I will give you the money, but first you tell me that why are you begging to all the people around?”
Beggar- “What can I do sir ji, I have a wife, 2 boys and 2 girls. When I had no children and wife, my life was easily going but when I was married and the children were born, I needed more food items, toys for kids. And for the past few days my wife is asking me ear rings and I have no money at all in my pocket, and only begging is a way for getting money, at least I can get one hundred to two hundred rupees a day.”
Ramu scolded him and said….
“Are you an idiot, you know that hard work is far better than begging around, you don’t know that my life was also like you but I worked hard and I am in a big post now. Come here, I will tell you my story………
“I was a poor vegetable seller and I lived in Madhya Pradesh in a village in the Ashok nagar district. I used to live in a very small hut, and my friend Manoj lived behind to my hut. Me and Manoj were the best friends. I woke up early in the morning about 4:00 and first brushed my teeth and then I went to temple to worship god, I then returned back to my hut and used to bathe and have my breakfast. Around 7:00 I went to the vegetable shop and used to buy only fresh vegetables and at 10:00 I walked in my village and screamed ‘SABJI LELO.’ My sweet villagers came out and used to buy my vegetables. They always trusted me and my vegetables. I always brought only fresh vegetables from the shop so that my sweet villager’s trust towards me will never end up. Then I returned to my hut and had the lunch and after this, I used to take a nap from 4:00-6:00. Then I woke up and I used to sell vegetables in the evening also. I returned back home at 8:00 and used to have my dinner at 9:00 and I slept at 10:00. This was my daily routine. I always used to live a normal life. I was never taking a leave from my job. Usually all vegetable sellers are casual workers but I was always permanent, even if I have high temperature or fever. My routine was never changed. My life was going on, but a time came when my brother was suffering from high temperature (105-degree farenheit) My brother sent me a letter because we didn’t have enough money to buy a mobile phone. Now I decided go to his home, but the problem was that I was a permanent worker, so I called my friend Manoj to help in selling vegetables, and I ran to my brother’s home to take care of him. After a month, my brother’s temperature was normal and he was also feeling well so I decided to come back to my village. Everything was ok and I came to my village back. After reaching my village, first I thanked my friend Manoj for helping me, then I went to sell the vegetables but today nobody was there to buy my vegetables. I screamed “SABJI LELO” for half an hour but nobody came. But then suddenly Dadi came. Actually, Dadi maa was my regular and sweet customer. I asked Dadi that why is nobody coming to buy my vegetables? Dadi said ‘For the past few days, your friend Manoj was selling rotten vegetables and was also taking extra money from us. So, we decided to buy vegetables from somebody else, I didn’t expect you like this……
I said, 'Sorry Dadi maa, from today onwards I will only come to sell vegetables and my vegetables will be always fresh…….
Dadi said, I trust you….
Then, I saw Mrs.Patel and said,
Mrs.Patel, please buy my fresh vegetable ….
But she ignored me……...
Evening came, I didn’t earn that day, but then, I decided to buy a billing machine. I spent all my money savings to buy a billing machine and I finally bought it. Next day, I again went to sell my vegetables and I luckily met Mr.Ganguly, he said,
‘Everyone’s trust has gone against you but I will always trust you.’
I said, 'Thank you, sir, I will be thankful to you, Sir can you do me a favour?’
He said, 'I will always help you Ramu.’
I asked him to call all the people who bought vegetables from me. He called the people and I apologized to the people. I said, ‘My dear village citizens, I am sorry for all the mistakes which my friend Manoj has done. Please forgive me for this. From now onwards, Ramu’s vegetables will be always fresh and will be of proper amount because I have bought the billing machine and it will always say the proper amount.’
They also forgave me. I was thankful.
Then, in the next day all customers came to me and bought my vegetables. I was very happy, and I also told my friend, Manoj to not repeat this. And now, slowly -slowly, more and more customers came to me.
Now I had enough money to buy A truck for vegetable delivery and finally I bought it.
My vegetable delivery services became very successful and slowly-slowly I bought two trucks, then three and then four.
After this I also started my official business and slowly-slowly I started to become rich.
Then one day, A very rich vegetable wholesale dealer came to my home and said, 'Are you Ramu?’
I said, 'Yes sir, who are you?’
He said,‘Hello Ramu, I am a vegetable wholesale dealer. I heard that in the whole Ashok nagar district, you are selling the best quality and fresh vegetables. So, I want to give my business to you.’
When I heard this, I was so happy that my eyes was filled with tears.
‘I became the richest person in the Ashok nagar district. This was my story, now you also do hard work and tell me your story when you will also in a high post like me.’
The beggar said,
‘Sir, you have given me hope. Now I will also start my own story and tell it to you.’
Ramu laughed and the both moved on.
